Person-Centred Therapy

Developed in the 1950s from the work of American psychologist Carl Rogers, person-centred counselling helps people by creating an open, safe space to talk.

In person-centred counselling, we believe in every individual’s capacity to find answers to life’s problems. As your counsellor I will not offer you advice but rather will accompany you as we explore your life experiences.

A client-led, non-judgemental approach gives you control over what you discuss in counselling. Many people are attracted to the less formal, compassionate nature of this warm and relational counselling approach.

Many life issues can benefit from person -centred counselling, and I help adults and young adults (18 years +) experiencing the following difficulties:

  • Acute and Chronic Health issues
  • Abuse
  • Anxiety
  • Ageing
  • Bereavement and loss
  • Childhood and adult trauma
  • Confidence and self-esteem
  • Depression
  • Education/school-related issues
  • Experience of bullying
  • Family dynamics
  • Identity issues
  • Relationship issues
  • Reproductive issues, including fertility, abortion and menopause
  • Self-Harm
  • Suicide/Suicidal Ideation

If you would like to contact me for a free initial meeting of up to 50 mins to explore what is troubling you, please call/message me on 07932 578844 or email jdcounselling@proton.me.

Supervision

At J D Counselling, I also offer individual supervision for trainee and qualified counsellors, either in person at my private practice in High Wycombe or online via Zoom.

As your supervisor, I aim to co-create a safe environment where you can explore your client work and any professional issues you may be facing, helping you develop greater awareness of yourself within the Counselling relationship and maintain appropriate professional boundaries.

Part of my role as supervisor is to offer guidance on adhering to professional codes of conduct, confidentiality, and best practice, ensuring your work aligns with ethical standards. I am a registered member of the BACP and work in accordance with their ethical standards.

If you are a qualified counsellor or trainee currently searching for counselling supervision, and want to arrange a free initial meeting of up to 30 mins to explore what your supervision needs are and whether we might be a good fit, call/message me on 07932 578844 or email jdcounselling@proton.me.
